This will actually be the second time that ADELTE installs a boarding bridges in the Port of Marseille; the first one were in 2010 in the cruise terminal. The new boarding bridge will be installed in the ferry terminal at la Joliette quay in 2013, ensuring safety, comfort, and easy boarding for all passengers, including those with disabilities. The design of this one-tunnel boarding bridge completely fulfils Marseille Fos’ requirements, facilitating maintenance and cleaning of the PBB by adding two platforms to each side of the tunnel and locating the mechanical  equipment  within easy reach of the operators.

The boarding bridge will have a range of different gradients, thus enabling it to service a large number of the ferries from Marseille to Algiers, Ajaccio and Porto Vecchio, among others, and the technology incorporated into the boarding bridge will allow it to automatically follow the movements of the docked ship and thus ensure totally safe boarding and disembarking.

The current contract is not limited to providing a single bridge; the Grand Port Maritime in Marseille also has the option to buy another PBB, placing it at either quay 12 or quay 82.
