Installation

Harwich International Port (HIP), part of Hutchison Ports Ltd, is a highly efficient, modern and one of UK’s most important North Sea ferry ports. To accommodate Stena Line’s large ferry vessels, HIP decided to redevelop the terminal on Berth 2 and to contract ADELTE for the delivery of a modern passenger boarding bridge with additional walkway to connect with the existing fixed elevated walkway which leads to the terminal building.
Fixed passenger boarding bridge consisting of two main frames, three mobile gantries and four glazed tunnels. Total length of this boarding bridge plus additional walkway is 125 metres. The capability of the cabin and its hydraulic telescopic docking ramp to slide along the front of the tunnel is unique. The bridge is specially designed to adapt to tidal range and was installed by means of floating cranes, due to its complexity and to the space limitations on the wharf.
