Installation

Port of Kiel contracted ADELTE to design and manufacture an innovative PBB to service ro-pax ferry vessels of Stena Line and cruise ships at the new passenger terminal Schwedenkai in the centre of Kiel. The PBB, which moves along rails and has 2-meter wide tunnel sections reaching a maximum length of 45 meters, is connected with an elevated walkway leading to the terminal building.
The KRONUS PBB is equipped with a steel structure on rails in which is mounted a rotunda, tunnel section, cabin and telescopic boarding ramp. To the rotunda of the structure are attached telescopic tunnel sections, which have the possibility to extend up to 45 meters. at the end of these tunnel sections is another rotunda, which is attached to a column. The cabin of this PBB is equipped with a uniquely integrated hydraulic telescopic docking ramp that, when attached to the cruise ship, automatically follows the vessel’s movements and will immediately undock in case of an emergency. The elevation of the PBB is hydraulic and the translation is electro-mechanical. The PBB is compliant with local and international safety and security standards.
