Installation

The Port Authority of Balearic Islands contracted ADELTE to deliver two PBBs of the HYDRA range to Cruise Terminals 1 and 3 in the Port of Palma de Mallorca. These PBBs are designed to service the world’s largest new generation cruise ships with overhanging life boats, like Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class ships, the Carnival Dream-class ships and the Norwegian Epic. The design and functionality of the PBBs is similar to the units installed by ADELTE at Cruise Terminals A, B and C in the Port of Barcelona.

The HYDRA PBBs have the capability to move along the whole quay and are able to connect with the various levels of the ship entry door. The cabins of the PBBs are equipped with a uniquely integrated hydraulic, telescopic, docking ramp that, when attached to the side of a cruise ship automatically follows the vessel’s movements and will immediately undock in the event of an emergency. The clearance under the PBBs will allow for continuous truck, equipment and supplies traffic on the quayside. ADELTE’s Passenger Boarding Bridges are compliant with all up-to-date international safety and security standards.
